About the Olympiad

Global Drawing Olympiad (GDO)

Explaining a drawing involves clearly describing what the drawing shows, its purpose, and the message or idea behind it. Drawing is one of the oldest forms of human expression within the visual arts. It is generally concerned with the marking of lines and areas of tone onto paper/other material, where the accurate representation of the visual world is expressed upon a plane surface.

Why Drawing Competitions?

Before diving into specific ideas, let's understand why drawing competitions are more than just contests:

  • They encourage creativity: Participants get to visualize and express their thoughts.
  • They promote healthy competition: Artists challenge themselves and others to improve.
  • They help in skill development: Regular participation boosts confidence and sharpens techniques.
  • They foster appreciation for art: Drawing competitions create platforms for art to be seen and appreciated.
